Thanks to years of struggle, in 2016 civil unions were introduced. Although the latter grant many substantive rights to same-sex couples, they were made for gays and lesbians only but they do not recognize their ability to be parents.

The opponents of full equality have succeeded in obtaining not only a legal institution other than marriage, but also the removal of the article which would have directly attributed rights and protection to the children of homosexual families. In the intentions of the opponents of full equality, Civil Unions had to stop one step away from Marriage and be "an inferior institution for inferior families".

But the reality is different. Homosexual families, with or without children, bring with them the same desire for mutual care, commitment, dignity and projection into the future of all Italian families. Everywhere the unions celebrated to date have been perceived for what they are in people's hearts: marriages. Sometimes with children. So we ask the legislator: why not recognize this reality and heal the gap between reality and law with access to marriage and the recognition of a parenthood that already exists?

The objective of the #LoStessoSì campaign is to obtain full dignity and equality for gay and lesbian families and their children in the next legislature 2023-2028, through access to the same institution provided for heterosexual families and the recognition of gay and lesbian parenthood.

The planned actions

A medium-long term campaign that includes:

• A multi-stage campaign for the visibility of homosexual families, with or without children, to strengthen the already growing public support for full equality;
• An action of monitoring the orientations of public opinion and putting pressure on the future parliament (2023 policies), both in the electoral phase and in the post-electoral phase, on the issues of full equality and the recognition of parenthood in the legislative sphere (in particular, marriage and adoptions);
• Lawsuits that highlight the incompleteness of the legislative choice on Civil Unions and the unreasonableness of the distinction between Civil Unions and Marriage.

1. Viral campaign of videos on the reality of the many LGBTI families, stories in which we love each other, live together and support each other, to show that in reality there are many families, they are different, but in common they have the desire to take care of each other.
   Estimated budget: 8,000 euros.
2. Feed the online platform through which (votoarcobaleno.it) monitor and put pressure on candidates and elected officials in the 2023 general election on LGBTI rights and full equality.
   Estimated budget: 9,000 euros.
3. Collective flash mob "tables of equality", a collective Family Lunch spread throughout Italy, in which everyone can bring their families to the streets with their stories, differences and aspirations.
   Expected budget: 13,000 euros.
